In your emergence, the TdL – Theology of Liberation was the expres-sion of a vast political and social movement, critical of dependent capitalism and social inequality, in which the long-range strategy would be to achieve a material liberation that would guarantee a self-sustaining development and that would meet to the real needs of the working class. Alongside the anti-capitalist strug-gle, the MST – Landless Rural Workers Movement emerges as the protagonista of the organization for agrarian reform and socialism. In this sense, the present research will seek to analyze the ideological influence of TdL in the emergence and in the political practice of organizing the MST, during the 1970s and 1980s, from the documentar analysis of the material made available by the MST and the Documentation Center “Dom Tomás Balduino”.
