E-mail: [email protected] Schiff-Sherrington syndrome clinically corresponds to a manifestation of rigidity extensor or hypertonia of the forelimb and hypotonic paralysis of the hind limbs. It is a common condition in dogs, however, rarely described in large animals. It can be caused by trauma and spinal cord compression conditions. The aim of this study was to describe the case of a two-year-old male horse with Schiff-Sherrington syndrome. The animal was sent with signs of paresis and ataxia of the hind limbs, and during the necropsy, multiple fractures were observed in the 1st and 2nd lumbar vertebrae and spinal cord compression.
