Though cesarean section is one of the most common surgeries performed in obstetrics, there is a lack of consensus on the anesthetic approach to the management of achondroplastic women during this surgery. Achondroplasia is the most common variant of dwarfism, and the approach to anesthesia in these patients is known to be challenging. Furthermore, dwarfism presents unique challenges in the field of anesthesia management, necessitating a tailored approach to ensure patient safety and optimal perioperative outcomes. This case report describes the anesthetic management of a woman with achondroplasia who presented with obstructed labor and had an emergency cesarean section. We discuss the intricacies of preoperative assessment, airway management, positioning, monitoring, and drug dosing. This report underscores the significance of individualized anesthesia management plans in enhancing the overall perioperative experience for these patients.
