Analysis of the Structural Topology of the Interprovincial Bus Seats
Abstract
The study of mechanical engineering through computational technological advances allows having advantages in the design of prototypes of bus seats and other elements that make up the structure of the seats for interprovincial buses and thereby guarantees passengers' safety and buses' overall structural resistance. To avoid traffic accidents, it is vital to reduce the weight of the seats for saving fuel and improving the performance of the bus. Using the finite element method with the ANSYS Research software, it is proposed to optimize certain elements that make up the structure of the interprovincial bus seats and to comply with the R80 CEPE/UN regulation wherein the structural resistance of the seats must be evaluated according to the forces recommended by the regulation – critical forces, displacements, and the amount of absorbed energy. Under such conditions, various structural elements are optimized to simulate the seat again and validate the resistance through regulations recommended for this type of study.
