This article analyzes the interactive communicative activity between an adult and a group of 20 preschool children in a group playing experience. This experience was developed and analyzed from the perspective of historical-cultural pedagogical psychology of L.S. Vigotsky. The experience was developed in a classroom of a public educational institution in the city of Bogota, Colombia. The results show that the interactive communicative activity between adults and children in the game allows the development of abilities related to the initiative for conversational turn taking when representing the roles, the expression of information of thematic content according to the game situation, asking questions in order to consider the others’ perspective, narrating sequences of events, understanding the communicative intention of the various roles involved in the game, and the understanding and expression of complex linguistic constructs used when assuming a role. It is concluded that communicative activity in role playing allows children both knowing others and themselves, which allows the transformation of their actions
