Dermoscopic features of vulvar lichen sclerosus in children: an analysis of 41 cases
Abstract
Objective To analyze dermoscopic features of vulvar lichen sclerosus in children. Methods The dermoscopic images of vular lichen sclerosus were retrospectively analyzed in 41 children who were treated at our department. Results All cases exhibited yellowish-white amorphous areas and linear vessels. Follicular keratotic plugs were seen in 30 cases (73.17%), while patients with blue-gray pepper-like granules accounted for 63.41% (26 cases). Other features included pigmented macules in 15 cases (36.59%) and reddish-purplish globules or patches in 11 cases (26.83%). Conclusions Under dermoscopy, the features of yellowish-white amorphous areas, linear vessels, follicular keratotic plugs, and bluish-gray granules are helpful for the diagnosis of childhood vulvar lichen sclerosus.
