El retraso mental y su relación con la Estomatología
Abstract
RESUMEN Debido a la insuficiente información estomatológica relacionada con pacientes con retraso mental se decidió realizar un estudio descriptivo analítico y transversal con los estudiantes de la Escuela Especial Fructuoso Rodríguez de Campechuela con retaso mental leve y moderado, en los meses de septiembre-octubre del curso 2015-2016. Se les confeccionó la historia clínica individual lo que constituyó una fuente útil para la obtención de los fines deseados. Los estudiantes que presentaban un retraso mental leve representaron un 57.4 % con los varones como mayor cantidad 37.7 %. Dentro de los resultados más significativos están: gingivitis crónica 100 %, erupción tardía 82.0 %. Al realizar el examen físico extraoral las variables más representadas fueron los pacientes con perfil convexo 83.6 % y fascie adenomatoide 31.1 %. Se realizó esta investigación, con el apoyo de otros sectores y con el interés de ofrecer una solución para mejorar el estado de salud bucal en estos niños a través de su caracterización. ABSTRACT Due to insufficient stomatologic information related to patients with mental retardation, it was decided to perform a descriptive and transversal study with the students of the Special School Fructuoso Rodríguez in Campechuela with mild and moderate mental retardation in the months of September-October of the school year 2015- 2016. They were made the individual clinical history which constituted a useful source for the achievement of the desired results. Students with mild mental retardation accounted for 57.4 % with males 37.7 % higher. Among the most significant results are: chronic gingivitis 100 %, late eruption 82.0 %. When performing the extraoral physical examination, the variables most represented were the patients with convex profile 83.6 % and adenomatoid facie 31.1 %. This research was carried out, with the support of other sectors and with the interest of offering a solution to improve the state of oral health in these children through their characterization.
