Economic development of urban areas as a scientific study in the field of public administration
Abstract
The modern stage of society's development is characterized by urbanization processes, which in its turn have an impact on the world economy, as well as on the national economies of countries that are characterized by rapid rates of urbanization. Urbanization processes that currently exist in the world necessitate the improvement of public administration mechanisms. For quite a long time, the problem of public administration of urbanized territories was not recognized in Ukraine as one of the important processes that has an impact on the country's economy, which causes insufficient study of this issue by domestic scientists. There is a need to develop the methodological research apparatus. The bibliometric analysis was chosen as the method for conducting this research, and one of the most famous international scientometric databases - Scopus - was chosen as the basis for the bibliometric analysis. As a result of the research, it was found that the works devoted to urban economic policy were written to a greater extent in social sciences and sciences devoted to the environment, in particular in such countries as: England, China, France, Australia, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Canada and others. The VOSviewer program was used to conduct bibliometric analysis, which made it possible to analyze publications devoted to urban economic policy, to identify key words that were most often used in articles, in particular, such words are: economic development, metro area, developing countries, urban development, informal sector, policy influence, regional development, urban planning, urban poor, industrial relations, planning strategy, economic activity, industrial location, employment and others. With the help of the VOSviewer program, a cartogram of keywords in the Sсopus database was built, which were used by scientists in works devoted to urban economic policy, which in its turn contributed to the identification of the main directions of research into the problems of urban economic policy, which are the basis for the formation of prospects for the development of the policy for the development of urban areas for Ukraine.
