This article examines slavery in the Brazilian countryside by mapping available data on the liberation of slaves and denunciations of slave cases. It analyzes the distribution of rural slavery in Brazil, identifies situations related to slavery, and builds synthesized indices of the probability of the presence of slaves and their vulnerability to being kidnapped into bondage. The article intends to contribute to the fight against slavery in rural areas, aiding in its repression and prevention.
