The article describes the creation of a Slavic research group at the University of Ottawa and its activities. The main task of the group when it was created was to unite a number of scholars in order to master and better understand the world of Slavic literature and culture. One of the tasks of the Slavic research group was the study of Russian and Polish languages, which are taught to students of the University of Ottawa. The article describes the composition of the group, its gradually expanding activities, including it’s today cooperation with a number of leading scientific organizations of the world, active publishing and search work aimed at clarifying data on Russian and Polish literature, archival research, lectures, conferences, exhibitions and festivals.
