Subjects completed the Mental Health Questionnaire (GHQ-28) as pre-test and one month later as post-test and during this time, they were asked not to make purchases. Recreation purchasing style was measured by the Sproles and kendall questionnaire. Pearson correlation coefficient and T-test were used to determine the effect of purchasing style on mental health and depression. Results: The mean score of pre- and post-test of mental health questionnaire was 22.57 ± 9.12 and 30.90 ± 11.27, respectively. The difference between pre- and post-test mental health was significant (p= 0.020). There was a significant difference between the two measures in dimensions of depression, weakness in social functioning and anxiety (p <0.05). The results of Pearson correlation coefficient test showed a positive and significant relationship between students' purchase and mental health (r = 0.613, p = 0.001).
