«God lives in Cities»: Catholic Model of Evangelization in the Megapolises

Abstract

The article is devoted to the Catholic model of Evangelization in the big city. The author shows that the usual parish model is in crisis being a result of the rapid urbanization and migration of the population. In the new conditions, the Christian community is positioning itself not geographically as a district center, but socially as an organ of social cohesion that gives a Christian life guidance in a polycentric metropolis. The Catholic model of Evangelization is from now on an inculturation, a Christian witness in various, is thus primarily urban, cultural communities more likely than a propaganda of faith. At the same time, Catholic theologians emphasize the human and Christian dimension of the modern city.
