Flexible endoscopy in neurosurgery

Abstract

Endoscopic neurosurgery is a new and extremely promising areain surgical treatment of nervous system diseases. The advantagesof the technique are associated with decreased severity of a surgicaltrauma due to a smaller approach, but with the preservedamount of performed manipulations. The article presents thefirst results of application of flexible endoscopy in the surgicaltreatment of diseases of the brain and spinal cord. A high efficacyof this high-tech approach and a significantly lower rate of complicationscompared to open surgery are demonstrated.
