ASSESSMENT OF BEHAVIOURAL RISK FACTORS OF HEALTH WORKERS IN EPIDEMICS AND EXTREME SITUATIONS
Abstract
Relevance. The work of medical workers is among the most responsible and complex activities involving risk. In this article conditions of work of doctors and other medical personnel are considered as such risky environment; psychosocial risk factors of medical workers in difficult conditions of struggle against infectious and other diseases are analyzed. Purpose. The authors aim to reveal and analyze the moral and psychological state and labor behavior of medical workers in extreme conditions that create threats and risks to their health. By the nature of their activities, employees of medical institutions should primarily be guided by professional medical codes, but also their moral choice in extreme situations will depend on their own risk assessment and value system. Results. The analysis shows that the situation in the Russian Federation as a whole can be assessed as unfavourable in terms of material and moral-psychological support for medical personnel during mass epidemics and extreme situations. The state must value their work even higher in a crisis situation and provide vital means of epidemiological protection, at least to prevent a specialist from adding to the negative part of statistics during an epidemic when his work is so valuable. Scope of the results. The authors address the problem of improving the Russian health care system taking into account the current situation with the spread of coronavirus epidemic. Through the prism of this approach, the importance of taking into account the assessment of behavioral factors of occupational risk and their perception in the medical environment is emphasized. The importance of preserving the physical and mental health of medical workers as a prerequisite for the success of anti-epidemic measures and making adequate managerial decisions in case of extreme situations is emphasized.
