CLINICAL STUDY REGARDING LONGEVITY OF PROXIMAL-OCCLUSAL DIRECT RESTORATIONS

Aim. The study focused on the clinical assessment of clinical performance of class II direct restorations related to dental group and material. Materials and methods. The study included 200 direct class II restorations (dental amalgam, composite resins) with age 6-9 years that were assessed with Ryge criteria modified USPHS. Results. A high percent of class II composite resins restorations presents wear of occlusal surface, absence or incomplete contact point, secondary caries at the level of cervical margin, marginal fractures or bulk fractures. Conclusion. Posterior class II dental amalgam restorations with age 6-9 years present satisfactory clinical performances, while class II composite resins restorations request monitorisation, repair or replacement.
