From a classroom experience we think about the forms of construction of historical knowledge, based on a collaborative learning approach and practices, which has included the use of computer technologies. The experience refers to a proposal organized around the theme of American Indian rebellions in the colonial period, with first year students, of history teaching degree from Joaquín V. González Institute. A research work was proposed, on a subject little known by the historiography: the Battle of Yi, a warlike conflict that occurred in 1702, in Sarandí del Yi, Uruguay. In it they faced indigenous nations (Yaros, Bohanes, Charrúas) against the Jesuit-Guaraní army. We set out to seek and imagine the voices of the defeated who could not write and to understand the importance of different interpretations in the production of historical knowledge
