This study presents the effect of water on the quality of diesel fuel, including the chemical effects of its presence in the fuel. The issues of purifying diesel fuel from water (i.e. its separation from fuels) with the currently used filtering materials were analysed. The possibilities of improving the efficiency of the water pollution removal process through the use of filters made of graphene materials were presented, based on tests performed for other types of fuels. Additionally, the bactericidal properties of graphene compounds were indicated, which show the ability to eliminate a microbial contamination of fuels occurring in the presence of water.
