The objective of this review was to approach the intensive pasture termination system (IPT) as a possible alternative for the development of beef cattle in the semiarid region. Pasture are still the cheapest and most practical way in livestock as a source of food for cattle. In semi-arid regions, seasonality causes forage productivity to be low, causing a nutritional deficit in the animals. Strategies and technologies are developed to promote alternatives that supply nutritional deficiencies with forms of supplementation. One of them, TIP, brings the concept of confinement to the pasture, bringing good results and low structural and operational cost.
