Summary: This article relates the experience of a creative writing workshop conducted in the French department of the University of Oum El Bouaghi with third-year undergraduate students as part of a reflection on the relationship between the creative writing of a tale and the development of the research participants' writing skills. In the first part, we proposed a protocol based on several activities designed to help students understand the genre and its characteristics. We invited participants to hijack and rewrite the Grimm brothers' Hansel and Gretel tale in the second part, integrating Algerian cultural aspects. In the end, the texts produced were highly discursive and linguistic. Ultimately, this leads us to question the system's value in light of introducing the "writing workshop" subject as part of the new reform.
