Des espaces émotionnels cathartiques pour nos vies affectives

Abstract

Places conceived for specific emotional experiences have appeared in the last decade. These heterotopias, presented as sites of emotional liberation, are also intended as outlets for stress, particularly at work. They develop a conception of affective life centred on its sensory-motor components, rather than on verbalisation or representation, and they encourage, by intensifying the emotions, a catharsis envisaged as a pure discharge. In so doing, they betray a certain modern conception of our affective and subjective lives, whose foundations and exploitation by late capitalism need to be questioned.
