An experimental study on the impact of deep peak load regulation on the water and steam quality of a 600 MW subcritical drum boiler was conducted. Experimental results indicate that during deep peak load regulation, there was chlorine leakage in the polishing mixed-bed. The chloride ion concentration in the mixed-bed outlet water ranged from 4.38 to 30.12 μg/L, and the chloride ion concentration in the boiler water ranged from 68.7 to 78.9 μg/L, both surpassing the standard values. Additionally, there were delayed adjustments in the automatic ammonia dosing system in the condensate and feedwater system and significant fluctuations in iron ion concentrations in feedwater and main steam. Therefore, deep peak load regulation has a pronounced impact on the water and steam quality of the boiler, hastening corrosion in its thermal system. The paper suggests taking measures to alleviate the impacts, such as adjusting the operating conditions of the condensate polishing mixed-bed, optimizing control parameters for the automatic ammonia dosing system, and modifying the feedwater treatment process.
