Aleppo is so near to Iraq, Syria, Arabia, and Egypt regions, and because of itsstrategic location, the city had a very important place for Ottoman Empire. Aleppoand Damascus during the Ottoman governance had become the two largest cities ofSyria. These Ottoman governors were always the patron’s of these Ottomancomplexes in Aleppo. Their pashas titles can be seen from their signatures in theinscriptions. Husrev Pasha, in a sense, as one of the governors of Aleppo had givenan order for the construction of an Ottoman style building complex. Husrev Pasha’scomplex was completed in 1546. This construction activity should be accepted as apioneer sample. After that every Ottoman governor patron had took this constructionactivity as an example. Together with the other Ottoman art patron’s building complexes, the trade center of Aleppo had become two times the size after theOttoman conquest in forty years. In our study, the process of transition fromtradition to innovation which was shaped by Ottoman art patrons during theOttoman domination in Aleppo will be examined. The information about thesepatrons according to the inscriptions or other historical archives will be examined.At the end the artistic environment which was established by Ottoman governor artpatrons shall be exposed.
