Accurate Expression of the Effective Capacity for Various MIMO Receivers Over Weibull Fading Channels
Abstract
Multiple input and multiple-output antennas have become the most employed tool to enhance the performance of any wireless communication system by overcoming the fading phenomenon which can affect any signal during its propagation. The signal-to-noise ratio represents the main physical metric without it no performance criterion can be evaluated. In this regard, we have derived the effective capacity expressions for the Weibull fading channel by recalling original and tight approximate probability density functions, which we have derived in our previous works, of the output SNR of maximal ratio combining and equal gain combining diversity schemes. The channels are supposed independent and not necessarily identically distributed. Furthermore, we have put forth a high-power approximation that is simplified and allows for a straightforward analysis of the system’s performance in terms of its fading properties. In the end, we have validated our proposed formulations via Monte-Carlo simulation methods.
