The Specificity of Library Work in Promoting the Ideas of Gender Equality during the War

The article highlights the activities of libraries as centers for citizens’ education and enlightenment during the war. A study of libraries activities in wartime aimed at ensuring gender parity in Ukrainian society, in particular overcoming negative gender stereotypes and digital inequality, is presented. It is noted that because of the full scale war in Ukraine, the strengthening of traditional gender roles is taking place. The process of adaptation of library activities to the needs of the war times, creation of effective mechanisms for solving current problems and threats are studied. It is noted that libraries, while continuing to perform their traditional functions, expand them in accordance with today requirements, becoming effective centers that unite communities and support people affected by war, in particular women, as the most vulnerable part of the population. The activity of libraries as social institutions for the formation and implementation of state policy on ensuring the principle of gender equality in society is studied. The libraries activity for the formation of digital competences among women, as the basis of their digital inclusion in social processes, is considered. In particular, the importance of the participation of libraries in the implementation of the project "Woman-leader in the digital space" was emphasized. Emphasis is placed on the importance of teaching women the principles of information and media literacy in wartime. The importance of the participation of libraries in the implementation of projects aimed at educating women’s leadership, is emphasized. In particular, the expe rience of creating "Swedish circles" in libraries, the participation of libraries in the implementation of the projects "Women’s leadership: on the road to restoring Ukraine" and "Safe places and spaces for women, free from violence" are analyzed. The experience of creative activity of libraries is analyzed, which, in particular, in cooperation with authorities, public and charitable organizations, and psychological services help citizens and, above all, women stabilize their psycho-emotional state, overcome and solve urgent life problems. The activity of libraries as socio-cultural centers is studied, their activity is aimed at uniting the Ukrainian people during the war, forming the skills of social activity, responsibility, while emphasizing the role of women in the historical process.
