COMPETENCES IN VIRTUAL ENVIRONMENTS: AN EVALUATIVE STUDY FROM STUDENTS OF THE NORTH CENTER AT THE UNIVERSITY OF GUADALAJARA / COMPETENCIAS EN AMBIENTES VIRTUALES: UN ESTUDIO VALORATIVO POR PARTE DE LOS ESTUDIANTES DEL CENTRO UNIVERSITARIO DEL NORTE DE LA UNIVERSIDAD DE GUADALAJARA
Abstract
The objective of this study was the evaluation of cognitive, social, ethic and emotional competences by undergraduate students from CU-Norte. An attitude scale was applied to measure students’ opinion about whether or not B-Learning facilitates enhancement of required competences. For comparison, responses were divided into two groups according to their knowledge area: Economic-Administration (EAS) or Health Sciences (HS). A specific assessment from each group, designed by faculty members, was also analyzed by experts to identify which competences were measured. Results showed EAS scholars considered B-Learning facilitates competences in a higher degree than HS. EAS evaluation showed a greater number of competences tested than HS’ exam. In conclusion, authors believe differences between groups were not biased but due to the specific planning undertaken by EAS faculty.
