Possibilities of applying the project-based teaching model in art education
Abstract
Starting from the fact that modern education requires changes and the implementation of innovative models in teaching, in this paper we considered the possibilities of applying the project-based teaching model in art education. Knowledge acquisition through active participation in the teaching process, independent research work and personal experience of students are the main goals of project-based teaching, which developed from the idea of constructivist theory to the level of a comprehensive system of work. The connection in the structure of the process of art education and project-based teaching opens great opportunities for their integration, which is shown by the results of many researches. Namely, in addition to successful connection and integration of contents of different school subjects, project-based teaching influences students' motivation, development of creativity and improvement of social skills. Despite the many advantages of the project-based teaching model, there are also difficulties in its realization: problems of time organization, inefficiency of the curriculum and insufficient training of teachers for this teaching model. The project-based teaching model is not a common occurrence in our schools, and therefore further research is needed in order to overcome the current difficulties, to create opportunities and provide conditions for applying this model in teaching practice.
