Rallying archaeology in ethnographic museums and, conversely, ethnography in archaeological museums implies an additional meaning that is analyzed collating the situation of two museums : the Museum Arlaten in Arles (France) and Point-à-Callière in Montréal (Quebec Province, Canada). The comparison reveals a same inscription of museographic discourse in an unlimited temporality. Such stretching produces a continuum, that is necessary for the celebration of the local identity.
