Rollo as a discourse marker

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to analyse and identify the meanings that the term rollo has in current Spanish. Some studies about discourse markers such as en plan or onda indicate that rollo may have a functional equivalence. Therefore, this work tries to find out whether this term is also a discourse marker and what has been the semantic and syntactic process that has allowed it. To make it possible, the pragmatic linguistics of Fuentes Rodríguez is used as a methodological model and the materials of the Corpus MEsA and the CORPES XXI are used as repertoires for the study of the usage.
