Marília Garcia’s poetics foregrounds the writing process, associated with a journey that goes towards the outside world, towards other texts and works by other artists. The poem is said to be emplaced on both a rhetoric of the beginning that insists on becoming explicit and on frames that spatialize the process; in other words, on gestures that can be related to contemporary art forms such as performance and installation. Paths, maps and diagrams are part of this movement in which ruins, more than a topic, become a material journey that allows us to see (and read) images and phrases under the imprint of precariousness and the present time. The route can be thought of as a back and forth between the record and the emergence of the spectrum. This reading will focus on parque das ruínas (2018) and on a performance, então descemos para o centro da terra (2020).
