Application of realtime pcr in genotyping of hepatitis b virus at dak lak
Abstract
Hepatitis B is a disease caused by the hepatitis B virus (HBV), and can be acute or chronic. Infection with hepatitis B virus is the leading cause of chronic hepatitis worldwide and people with chronic hepatitis B infection are at increased risk for developing liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma). In addition, the hepatitis B virus is the leading cause of cirrhosis. HBV can be classified into 8 genotypes A through H based on the divergence of 8% or more in the nucleotide sequences of complete genome. The identification of HBV genotypes are more concerned as the relating of HBV genotypes to clinical manifestation, activity of liver disease as well as treatment responses of Hepatitis B. We carried out this study in order to determine the genotype of HBV-infected patients in the area of Dak Lak Province. Prevalence of HBV genotype was determined on the sample size of 100 by Realtime PCR: 63 samples infected with genotype B, 21 samples infected with genotype C and 16 samples simultaneously infected with genotype B and C. Also, a number of clinical symptoms such as the concentrations of HBV DNA, HBeAg antigen were also analyzed in each genotype.
