Notas sobre la difusión del venturós pelegrí en los siglos XVIII–XIX : tres ediciones barcelonesas más otra impresa en Lleida

Abstract

Objetivo: este artículo se integra en una línea de investigación que se propone estudiar y clasificar todas las ediciones de la Peregrinació del Venturós Pelegrídatadas entre los siglos xvii y xix. En el caso de las ediciones dieciochescas surgidas en Barcelona, se pueden distinguir dos grandes grupos según los materiales gráficos que transmiten. En un primer grupo deberían incluirse los ejemplares que presentan total o parcialmente algunos grabados utilizados en Cervera por el tipógrafo Manuel Ibarra. En un segundo grupo estarían los impresos barceloneses con xilografías no documentadas en ninguna otra ciudad a lo largo de todo el siglo xviii. En este artículo nos centramos más concretamente en el segundo grupo. -- Metodología: reproducimos los grabados de cada una de las ediciones, y reseñamos una impresión decimonónica surgida en Lleida donde se utilizan en parte las mismas matrices. -- Resultados: el estudio demuestra la gran pervivencia del Venturós Pelegrí, que fue estampado por varios tipógrafos siguiendo unas pautas formales muy similares, de acuerdo con una serie iconográfica bastante tipificada, sobre todo a lo largo del siglo xviii. Objectives: To report on an ongoing line of research that aims to classify all the editions of the Peregrinació del Venturós Pelegrí ('Pilgrimage of Venturós Pelegrí') that have been dated to a period between the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries. When we compare their graphic features, the seventeenth-century editions printed in Barcelona fall into two main groups: in one, the editions are either partially or totally illustrated with woodcuts used in Cervera by the typographer Manuel Ibarra; the other group comprises the editions printed in Barcelona containing woodcuts that have not been documented in any other city during the eighteenth century. This paper focuses on the second group. -- Methodology: We reproduce the woodcuts in each of the editions and give an account of eighteenth-century Lleida, where the same woodblocks were occasionally used. -- Results: The study demonstrates the enduring nature of the work in question, Venturós Pelegrí, which was illustrated by various typographers following very similar formal guidelines and adhering to a markedly typified iconographic series, especially during the eighteenth century.
