RULES OF ETHICS FOR LEGAL ADVISERS

Abstract

The profession of a legal adviser is a profession of public confidence, which imposes on its representatives distinctive legal and ethical requirements. The article presents the basic regulations of the new Legal Adviser Code of Ethics, which came into force in 2008. It also delineates principal changes regarding the former regulation, most importantly, the abolition of the absolute ban on advertising, which had been previously binding for legal advisers. There are also short remarks and observations concerning disciplinary proceedings within the self-government of legal advisers.
