“JOGAR BOLA, BRINCAR NA PRACINHA E PLANTAR BANANEIRA”: representações sociais de crianças sobre a educação física

The present study enrolls itself in thefield of the School’s Physical Education.We aimed in this research toidentify the way that the children ofthe third grades of Elementary Schoolof public municipal and state schoolsin Ijuí (RS) represent the PhysicalEducation while field of knowledge.In this direction, we located twoschools: one in which the PhysicalEducation classes are ministered bythe specific teacher of the area andanother in which the classes are conducted in a single teacher educationcontext. We raised the followingresearch question: What are the socialrepresentations of the children ofthe third grade of Elementary Schoolabout the Physical Education classes?Twenty four children participated ofthe research, twelve of each school.The data organization happened inthree moments: through a dynamicof associations of words; throughthe elaboration of a drawing withthe theme “Physical Education at theschool”; and through the speeches ofthe children concerning their production.From the analysis that resultedof this investigation, we could drawthat there are differences betweenthe children’s representations of theclasses of Physical Education with aprofessional of the area and with anon-specific teacher. We achievedthe following results: the group ofchildren in which the classes wereministered by the single teacher described32 words associated to theseclasses, while the group in which theclasses were ministered by the teacherof the Physical Education arealisted 111 words; the trend on thefirst group is to associate the PhysicalEducation to sports and games, whileon the second group the childrenlisted a wider quantity of elementsof the corporeal culture, like sports,games, rhythmic activities, fights andgymnastics; concerning the issue ofwhere the teacher would be during the class, the first group reportedthat “the teacher went out” and “theteacher is not here”, while on thesecond group the reports were different:“the teacher is refereeing”, “theteacher is helping” and “the teacheris calling the children”; the drawingsof the children of the first groupreferred especially to football (soccer)and individual activities, whilethe second group mentioned alsothe volleyball, games, activities withropes and gymnastics.
