Project management methodology: a lighter and less bureaucratic way. Would it be possible?

Many organizations seek to implement good project management practices without, however, adapting them to their realities and complexities. As a consequence, the processes become cumbersome, repetitive, and even bureaucratic. Despite advances in methodologies and tools, successful implementation of projects is not so easily noticed, raising doubts about the usefulness of such artefacts. Thus, the objective of this work is to analyze the perception of specialists regarding the use of lighter, more efficient and less bureaucratic methodologies for the management of projects in companies. For this, an exploratory study was performed through a field survey with quantitative frequency analysis. The literature review compilation was based on the selection of articles retrieved from the SCOPUS database, which served as a basis for the questionnaire with closed questions, and which was submitted to a group of 106 project management experts from the public and private sectors. The tangible results obtained in the study demonstrate that the objective was reached, signalling a possible advance in the studies on the proposed subject . There was also an increase in complexity in the understanding of efficiency and a valuation of cost observation, from which the existence of possible demand for the development of a model that allows to measure the cost-benefit of each item of the methodology is inferred, in order to determine what should or should not be adopted.
