Bibliography of catalogues of Algerian manuscripts: a statistical and Descriptive Study

Abstract

Abstract: This study is a comprehensive survey of the efforts made in cataloguing Arabic manuscripts in Algeria, by tracing the history of these efforts from the first initiatives undertaken by Algerian researchers and some orientalists, to the institutional efforts made by the National Library, universities and scientific research centers. In addition, it aims to monitor the development of manuscript cataloguing in Algeria, identify the most important achievements and challenges in this field, and evaluate the contributions of various actors in this field, whether governmental, academic or civil society institutions, in order to identify the strengths and weaknesses of this field and propose ways to develop it in the future.
