RELIGIOUS NORMS AS PERSONAL REPRESENTATIONS OF SUBJECTIVE RELIGIOUS EXPERIENCE
Abstract
The article presents a qualitative study of the content of religious norms as personal representations of subjective religious experience. The introduction describes the relevance of the study of religious norms as a form of social norms. Theoretical propositions concerning the psychological content of this phenomenon are presented. The working definition of religious norms is based on the socio-cognitive approach, according to which social norms are studied as representations of correct behavior or judgments, based on subjective experience. As a method of empirical study of the content of religious norms, the repertory grid technique of G. Kelly was used. As a method of data processing, the method of thematic analysis was used. As a result of the study, types of religious norms were obtained: the religious norm of internality / externality, the religious norm of social isolation / openness, the religious norm of altruism / selfishness, the religious norm of freedom / fundamentalism. The presented norms are applicable to the evaluation of various elements of social and personal activity of a person and regulate this activity. In the individual consciousness, the presented religious norms give rise to an uncontested set of criteria for distinguishing between «right» and «wrong» behavior in various social spheres of life.
