Branchial cleft cyst: A rare diagnosis in a 84-year old patient. A case report
Abstract
Branchial cleft cyst (BCC) is a congenital cervical mass which can be present at birth or becomes apparent generally up to first two decades of life. BCC is seen rarely and has a benign nature both in clinic and histopathologicly. In the literature, there are a few documented cases older than age of 70’s. A 84-yearold woman presented to our clinic with a left-sided neck mass was operated, and the pathologic specimen was reported as the branchial cleft cyst. This case is discussed based on the current literature because of its rarity.
