STUDY OF TECHNOLOGY ACCEPTANCE AMONG RURAL ELDERLY COMMUNITIES AT MUKIM BERANANG, SELANGOR
Abstract
Information technology plays an important role in the daily life of the community. Various challenges of technology use such as the use of technology will affect digital communications. The main purpose of this study is to understand the acceptance of technology and the issues faced by rural communities that include seniors in today's technology. The questionnaires were used to obtain information on the acceptance and problems of rural community technology including the elderly of Mukim Beranang. The number of rural residents is 100 and 45 of them are categorized as seniors aged 55 years and over. The study found that the level of technology utilization was still low among the elderly even though 64.4% among them had smartphones and mobile phones. The results of this study show that the main cause of preventing the use of technology among senior citizens is visual impairment, problems in understanding technology and movement problems (trachea, pain in joints). This pilot study has opened a further research on to see what steps and opportunities to enhance and expand the development technology among elderly in the future.
