Current strategies in education leave nanoscience and nanotechnology aside from the process of learning the scientific method, thereby omitting a large portion of contemporary empirical knowledge. It is thus desirable to familiarize students in secondary education with the fundamental elements and concepts of nanotechnology and its applications areas: water, agriculture, nutrition, health, energy and the environment. The Nano School Box tool is used with the mission of broadening the learning experience for secondary education students in a typical classroom, providing an opportunity for them to participate and interact around the experience of direct contact with nanotechnology. By doing so, it is expected that students will understand and appreciate better the concepts and tools required for working at the nanoscale.
