The article discusses the phonetic, syntactic, visual-graphic and compositional principles of the organization of rhythm in Sasha Sokolov’s novel School for Fools. Based on the study of the prose structure of the novel, rhythmic units of each structural level are identified. The article allows to make a conclusion about the character of the author’s perception of the rhythm category based on the synthesis of prosaic and poetic rhythmic techniques, such as the phenomenon of verse expansion, the assembly organization of text blocks, sound, syntax and plot repetitions, visual-graphic techniques that create a “heterogeneity” of the narration
