Numerical study of the efficiency of single and group centrifugal cyclones
Abstract
Centrifugal cyclones are devices used to separate solids or liquids from gas streams using centrifugal forces. They are widely used in various industrial processes, as well as for purifying air and gases from contaminants. The work carries out numerical modeling and study of the efficiency of single cyclone SCN-50-800 and group cyclone SCN-50-400x4. The study was carried out in the engineering software package Comsol Multiphysics 6.1 using the Flow Simulation add-on, designed for modeling hydrodynamic processes. The v2-f model, which is very often used in swirling flows, was chosen as the turbulence model. The computational experiment was carried out at the same productivity of 4500 m3/h. Based on the obtained numerical data, it is shown that the efficiency of group cyclones is significantly greater than that of single cyclones.
