The language plays a significant role in the process of formation of the personality, getting the education, is the means of everyday communication, the instrument of accumulation of knowledge, involving into the cultural heritage, national self-identification of the person and also as a rule one of the main factors of formation of the modern nation. The relevance and practical value of the study lay in the focus of the work on the solution of the practical tasks of the extension of the social base of the Ukrainian language and the return of its functional completeness, will contribute to the accumulation of the important material for the future theoretical generalizations, problems of bilingualism, diglossia, mixing of the languages. The deformation of the language situation in Ukraine consists in the fact that the correlation between the Ukrainian speaking and the Russian speaking parts of the population doesn’t correspond to the correlation between the Ukrainian and the Russian people on its territory. The Ukrainian language nowhere on its own territory became such that will cover not only the title nation, it doesn’t unite either the Ukrainian political nation, the totality of all the citizens of the state despite their national origin. The purpose of the study lays in the conduction of the analysis of the internal and external evaluation of the degree of adherence to the Ukrainian language in the Shyriaieve district of the Odesa region and in the determination of the tendency of the extension of the Ukrainian language as the main means of communication in all the spheres of life of the district. The pupils were divided into two groups: Учнів було поділено на дві групи: the respondents from mono-ethnic Ukrainian families and the respondents from multiethnic families.
