Variazioni Simenon. Appunti su tre adattamenti cinematografici
Abstract
This article examines three cinematic adaptations – Julien Duvivier’s “Panique” (1946), Ladislao Vajda’s “Barrio / Viela, rua sem sol” (1947), and Patrice Leconte’s “Monsieur Hire” (1933), all inspired by Georges Simenon’s “Les fiançailles de Monsieur Hire” (1933). They are loose adaptations, which search for – rather than discarding – the possibility of a variation, a deviation, an enrichment in their relationship with the source.
