The exchange, re-use and rewriting texts of villancicos was more than an usual practice among religious musicians and poets who sometimes lent their pen in yhe composition of the series of songs interpreted in different chapels of the Iberian Peninsula. Thus, based on the particular case of the work of the poet and playwright José Pérez de Montoro, one of the most famous authors of villancicos of its time, this study tries to show that the reputation of a poet could lead to redefine or establish the networks of dissemination of the pliegos de villancicos, both locally and in various and distant territories of the Spanish monarchy, and propose a typology of reuse and rewriting practiced by the chapel master at the end the seventeenth century.
