Due to the increased political, social and economic insecurity, Christian communities at Near and Middle East are continuing to exist despite of unstable political situation at these areas. At the beginning of the 20th century the number of Christian population was about 25%, with the highly decreasing trend of their number, and it does not exceed the figure of 6%. In the territory of Kosovo and Metohia the emigration of the Christian Serbian population due to the violence it was subjected to, desacralization and demolishing of Serbian Christian sanctuaries in the last decade of the 21st century, shows the decisiveness of the interest political subjects to ignore the preservation and inheritance of Christian legacies in favour of economico-strategic needs.
