COLOR PALETTES CONVERTING IN PIXEL ART IMAGES

Background. The article is devoted to the task of converting the resolution and colors of images to simulate the low-resolution pixel art style. Materials and methods. The authors use color representation in RGB format. To convert colors, the distances between the points representing the color in the interior of the RGB color cube were used. Results. To convert the color palettes of an image, a C# program was developed in the Visual Studio 2019 environment. It is possible to configure such parameters as a palette, an interval, and a method for determining the color in the palette. The results of transformations of color palettes of test images with different parameters are presented. Conclusions. The results of computational experiments with test images show that the developed program, in general, performs its functions. Valid parameters from the point of view of the visual properties of the result are an interval with a value of 4 and a method for determining the color in the palette using the Euclidean distance formula. Further research may be related to the evaluation of the resulting converted images by an expert artist in order to determine the parameters that make it possible to obtain the most expressive and harmonious color schemes.
