CLINICAL CASE We report a case of pulmonary consolidation of the left inferior lobe, demonstrated by chest sonography; the ultrasound examination allowed us to detect the presence of necrotizing areas, which could not be detected by chest X-ray but were confirmed by computerized tomography. CONCLUSIONS This finding was important to orientate our therapeutic decisions considering the possibility of an anaerobic infection. Furthermore chest sonography represented in this case a simple way to monitor the evolution of the pulmonary consolidation until its resolution.
