The Quranic Education Approach
Abstract
This study aimed at developing a conceptualization of the Ouranic education approach. ‘Minhaj' approach in Arabic means the ‘clear way.‘ Islamic education in all respects - faith, word and deed - is embedded in the Holy Quran. To achieve this. goal, the study attempted to answer these ques- tions: What were the determinants of Quranic education?; What were the Quranic properties that define the interrelationships between the Quranic educational determinants on the one hand and between them and Quranic education on the other?; What were the educational components of Quranic education and what are their principles? This study showed that Islamic education in general was confined to two major definitive and charac- teristic determinants. viz. the truth of divinity and the truth of slavery to Allah as rendered by man, the universe and life. The relationships among these determinants as well as their relation to the components of Quranic education are based on six principles: divinity. stability , comprehensiveness, balance. positive- ness. and reality. Islamic education opts to create the faithful. pious individual. As far as the researcher knows. There are twenty-one educational areas in the Holy Quran. of which the researcher defined the Quranic princi- ples for only eleven areas of them. He quoted a verse or more as evidence of each principle. Those areas were: creed, worship. marrige. the family. health, ecology. consumption. politics. Jihad. recreation and aesthetics.
