Aqua(4-carboxypyridine-2,6-dicarboxylato-κ3O2,N,O6)(1,10-phenanthroline-κ2N,N′)nickel(II)

Abstract

The title compound, [Ni(C8H3NO6)(C12H8N2)(H2O)], contains an NiII ion, a 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) ligand, a 4-carboxypyridine-2,6-dicarboxylate (Hptc2−) anion and a coordinated water molecule. The NiII atom exhibits a distorted octahedral N3O3 environment. O—H...O hydrogen bonding between coordinated water and carboxylate O atoms, as well as π–π stacking interactions [interplanar distances between phen rings = 3.293 (2) Å] lead to a supermolecular assembly.
