The article focuses on the analysis of the articulation of the verses in María de Zayas’s story. This is a study of the narrative function of poems and the linking mechanisms they introduce. The verses chosen are those that appear in the first two nights of the sarao of the Primera parte. For this I use two perspectives as a hypothesis with a premise value: the design of composition of a work conceived with a unitary sense and a novelistic vocation and the parallel authorial projection in a metaliterary key that links the adventures of the heroines and the writing by this novelist and poet. The article contrasts the composition of the Honesto y entretenido sarao with the prosimeter model developed in the preceding centuries and in the chronology of María de Zayas.
